New product release - Mr Percival

Mr Percival (1976 - 2 September, 2009) was an Australian Pelican, noted for his appearance in the 1976 Australian film Storm Boy. He was one of three trained pelicans used in the film, based on the novel of the same name. He lived at the Marineland aquarium until it closed in 1988, then at the Adelaide Zoo. Mr Percival, whose zoo name was Gringo, fathered seven chicks with his partner Alto, the last in 2007.

He died of old age on 2 September 2009

This was the inspiration for the naming and creation of this kit. I had been on holidays on Kangaroo Island, off the coast of South Australia and I've not ever seen so many pelicans in one place and I knew I had to work them into a kit somehow. Also one of my favourite stories as a child was Storm Boy....so the kit was born.

Easter at Pixels and Art Design

First challenge at Pixels & Art Design

Our first challenge is about to begin.

Welcome to the inaugural challenge at Pixels and Art Design.

The designers will be bringing you one challenge per month and I'm the lucky one to start the ball rolling and I'd like to say hi to you all and hope you have some fun with this challenge.

How would you like to turn a photo into a sketch just like this.

and then scrap it to create a stunning layout like the one below.

 I can see you all nodding YES so go mark it into your diaries as the challenge will run for the month of March and I'll be giving a $5 gift card to those who participate.

August Variety Challenge at Nuts 4 Digi

Fond Memories

Death has been a played a major part of my family's lives this last two months, for those who don't know we've lost my mum and hubby's dad within 4 weeks of each other and we've been looking at a lot of old photos and many have been bringing back a lot of memories. So to follow on from last month's special memories theme, for the August variety challenge I would like for you to dig out any old photos, preferably black and white of a family member who has past, a little gloomy subject but sometimes we need to reflect on the good times to bring us back into the perspective of the present, it's also a part of the grieving process.

I must admit that I was a little lazy this month and used this stunning QP that was a freebie created by Linda Cumberland using her "A Sweet Love" kit. Well lazy isn't really the word I should have used, just very short of time and the end of the month caught up with me quicker than I would have liked.
